New Metal
New ferrous metalwork should be hand, or mechanically cleaned, to remove any surface rust before application of Little Greene ASP Non-ferrous metals must be pre-treated or primed with Little Greene ASP.
Previously Painted Surfaces
Ensure any loose of flaking paint is removed. Clean any grease with a sugar soap and thoroughly rinse with clean water. Rub down the surface with a medium grade sandpaper. Repair any cracks with an appropriate filler and ensure any bare surfaces are suitably primed.
Use a high quality natural bristle brush that is suitably sized for the project at hand. New brushes should be conditioned by washing in clean white spirit and thoroughly drying with a clean, lint free, cloth. Avoid drips by not over loading the brush with product. or the highest quality appearance, keep final brush strokes all in the same direction and never go over paint that has already begun to dry.
Strong colours may require 3 coats to achieve an even coverage.
Cleaning
As this is an oil based product brushes and rollers will need to be cleaned with white spirit, or appropriate substitute, immediately after use.
